Vamanam
What is Vamanam/Vamana in Panchakarma? According to Dr.Varun Ram Raj, the stomach cleansing method with the help of herbs is called Vamanam. Virechanam

Nasyam
What is Nasyam/Nasya in Panchakarma? Vasti
What is Vasti in Ayurveda? According to Dr.Varun Ram Raj, the Ayurvedic method of large intestine strengthening and cleansing is called as Vasti. Vasti/Vasthi, in other words is Ayurvedic enema therapy. i procedure helps in balancing the Vata Dosha. It is considered as the “half part of the treatment” as per Ayurveda, because a properly performed Vasti (Ayurvedic enema) relieves the disorders in faster manner by quick and safe expelling of doshas. There are different types of Vasti or Vasthi. They are Anuvasana vasti or Sneha vasti, Nirooha vasti or Kashaya vasti and Uttara vasti. Anuvasana vasti and Nirooha vasti are administered through Anal route. Uttara vasti is administered through urethra in males and vagina in females. Anuvasana vasti or sneha vasti is the administration of small quantities of medicated oil or fat. Nirooha vasti or Niruha vasti or kashaya vasti is done with mixture of oil, milk, kashaya (decoctions), honey etc. In Uttara vasthi, a combination of herbs and decoctions are used. Nervous system ailments, intestine related conditions including intussusception, reproductive system ailments, spine and lower back pain, joint problems like arthritis, urinary system ailments etc. can be managed with the help of various Ayurvedic vasti or enema methods.
Raktamoksham
What is Raktamokshanam? or What is Raktamoksha? According to Dr.Varun Ram Raj, this is the bloodletting method used in Ayurveda. There are two types of Ayurvedic blood letting. The first method is performed using surgical instruments and the second method is performed using various measures which are not a direct sharp surgical instrument to create the bloodletting points as well as to drain blood our of the body. The second method also includes the usage of Jalooka or leeches and it is called as Jalookavacharanam. Raktamokshana or blood letting is done in various conditions like alopecia, hair fall, skin conditions including dermatitis, infections of skin, conjunctivitis, varicose veins etc. This also helps in bettering the liver function and blood quality. All Panchakarma procedures including blood letting or raktamoskhanam/raktamoksha are performed in a clean and sterile condition.
