Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic condition caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which weakens the immune system and makes the body vulnerable to various infections. From an Ayurvedic perspective, AIDS can be understood as a condition of Ojas depletion (loss of vital immunity), along with severe imbalance in all three Doshas and progressive weakening of Dhatus (body tissues). Ayurveda does not offer a cure for AIDS, but it can improve the quality of life.
The line of management in Ayurveda focuses on strengthening immunity, rejuvenating Dhatus, improving Agni (digestive and metabolic fire), and enhancing overall vitality. According to Dr. Varun Ram Raj, one of India’s top Ayurvedic doctors, Ayurveda does not provide a direct cure for AIDS but can play a significant role as a supportive therapy to improve quality of life, reduce complications, and enhance longevity.
Ayurvedic herbs like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), and Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra) are widely used for their Rasayana (rejuvenative), antiviral, and immune-strengthening properties. Along with herbal formulations, Rasayana therapy, Panchakarma detoxification, and a Sattvic diet rich in nourishing, easily digestible foods are often recommended.
Ayurveda emphasizes avoiding stress, alcohol, and junk food while cultivating a positive mindset and healthy daily routine.
Always consult a qualified doctor before taking any Ayurvedic medicines or starting treatment for AIDS. Self-medication should be strictly avoided.
Stay healthy always !
